Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meets today for Ramazan moon sighting

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is meeting in Karachi today (Thursday) to agree on the observation of the Ramazan-ul-Mubarak Moon 1441. The Chairperson of the Mufti Munib-ur-Rehman Committee would chair the conference. For the first time in recorded history of the world, an representative of the Ministry of Science and Technology is also included in the Central Committee of Ruet-e-Hilal.

According to a circular released by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Unity on Wednesday, Dr Tariq Masood, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology, is named with obvious effect as a member (technical expert) of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
Last year on March 26, Federal Minister of Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry, when unveiling a website focused on the Moon-Sighting Calendar, said that Eid ul Fitr will fall on June 05. He added that the state should not compel someone to observe religious holidays, it was part of the religion. The minister said that we have invited the concern of the religious scholars technology can also help a lot in the sighting of the moon.
